The broad strokes

It starts in Washington. While I’ve lived away for longer than I lived within, I’ll always consider Washington my heartland, and its rainforests a spiritual home.

Entering middle school, my family moved to Florida where my dad was a pastor of a large church. My teenage years were shaped by the dissonance of being a creative, neurodivergent oddball under the constant watch of the masses.

College offered expansion and reinvention. I moved to South Carolina to earn a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with a minor in photography. This period brought philosophy and a deep exploration of who I was beyond the prescribed lanes of the traditions I grew up in. A more curious, authentic self emerged.

After school, I ventured out for my first professional role at a small branding studio in Connecticut. This role offered opportunities to test a variety of interests and discover my niche in brand strategy. Weekends were spent making art and roaming the rural country in search of abandoned relics to photograph.

Having gained enough experience to go all-in on a career in strategy, I moved to an advertising agency in Madison, WI where I’ve been ever since. This is the first place I’ve called home. The peace and stability of Madison enabled radical personal growth, largely thanks to an unusually-human employer and the unconditional support of my creative, queer, and neurodivergent communities.

From here on my goal is simple: seek awe, stay curious.
